Jagannath University is situated near the Buriganga river of Dhaka City. It is one of the best government finance public university of Dhaka. Kishorilal Chowdhury gave the name of this university “Jagannath” . That time (British Period) it was a school. In 1907 this school was turned into first grade college. Jagannath college opened honors and masters programs in 1975. According ro Jagannath University Act-2005, It was transformed into Public university in 2005. Jagannath University has 36 departments, 6 faculties and 2 institutes.
