University of Dhaka is known as “Oxford of East”. It is one the best and first public university in Bangladesh. It was opened it’s educational activities on the 1st July 1921. The first Vice-Chancellor of DU was Sir P.J. Hartog. It was situated in the heart of the Dhaka city. Which is known as Ramna on 600 acres of land. The University has 83 Departments, 13 Faculties,12 Institutes, 12 Institutes, 3 hostels, 20 residential halls, and more than 56 Research Centres. There are about 1992 teachers and 37018 students in this university. DU played a great significant role in the history of Bangladesh.
