Bangladesh University of Textiles shortly named BUTEX . It is the one and only public university of Bangladesh which gives Undergraduate degrees in Textiles Engineering. It also offers post graduates degrees on Textiles Engineering. Once upon a time it was just a textiles college. That time it was called the college of Textiles engineering and Technology. In 2011, our honorable prime minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated BUTEX as public university.

Minimum requirement of BUTEX admission:
| Candidates must get GPA 4.50 out of GPA 5.00 in SSC / equivalent exam. |
| Candidates must get GPA 4.50 out of GPA 5.00 in HSC. Must Get minimum GPA 4.00 in (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English). Total GPA in these 4 subjects must be 18.00. |
Mark distribution of Admission test:
Total 100 mcq will be given, every mcq carries 2 marks.
